SELF CARE PRACTICES FOR WHEN YOU FEEL TRIGGERED


When we feel triggered and feel ourselves get angry, activated or feel ourselves shut down, it can be really helpful to have a toolbox of things we can reach for to help us ground and bring us back to the present moment. Try some of these and if they work, add them to your toolbox.


  • Deep breathing is the fastest remedy for a racing heart

  • Exercise that includes moving our feet is great for nervous energy

  • Doing an oil rub with coconut oil, or natural almond oil into your whole body is extremely grounding and nourishing

  • Massaging your sore muscles using a ball or just while watching tv

  • Yoga

  • Deep breathing

  • Meditation

  • Naps in the afternoon

  • Playing with a pet or one of your children


Begin with a list of 5 of your favourite self-care practices and try them out.


The body is amazing. And reconnecting with its power through self care process can be transformational on our healing journey.


With practice ‘sitting with ourselves’ becomes easy and enjoyable and with time we get better at identifying the right tool for the right feeling.
